Pulling text from tweet using Twit API

I had a look around, but I can't seem to find similar posts (that have been resolved). I apologise if the question is a bit newbie.

I'm a fairly new to Javascript, and I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with pulling just the text from a tweet, preferably using the Twit API. I have some code that performs operations on text, but I'm having difficulty with actually grabbing it.

There is some excellent documentation with regard to tweeting and such, but it doesn't seem to extend to importing. In particular, I'm looking to grab the last tweet from my own feed, or a particular feed (for testing purposes).
