Building a backend for a mobile app

I'm a mobile application developer (iOS and Android) and I'm currently using Backendless as my backend for my apps.

I'm looking to build a backend for a new app I'm working on due to Backendless providing limited features and wanted some recommendations on what language and server I should be using.

I've had a few recommendations such as php, Laravel, Node.js, AngularJS and Ruby on Rails.
