How to open installed programs with Chromebook/Crouton/Ubuntu16.04?

This is what I have done so far:

Use Crosh with Shell -> Downloaded chrome extension and then Crouton -> Installed Linux -> opened with xfce? -> used "apt-get" to install NodeJS and NPM.

Now I don't know how to open them. They're not in applications and the stuff I've put in the terminal doesn't seem to open anything either.

I've used $ nodejs --version to verify it's installed and it send back current version numbers for each program.

What do I do? Also, how do I install Grunt?
